whumpdotcom has a post up regarding a small debate about the Jonestown Massacre and the expression "drink the kool-aid". That reminded me of something off-topic to his post: a tasteless but funny t-shirt I saw in the late '70s--a line drawing of the Kool-Aid Man with the caption, "I Survived Jonestown."

Not as tasteless as the April Fools' issue of my college newspaper in the spring of 1979. It had the People's Temple sign attached to Mission Santa Clara and the caption said that beverages would be served after the Sunday 10 PM Mass. Jesuit university black humor, I suppose.

...a phrase which has always bugged me, b/c it was actually Flavor-Aid (grape) that was used at Jonestown. ;)

Specifically: if you wanna go down in history as a REAL douche, don't just induce your followers to mass-suicide. Make them drink the CHEAP stuff! Har! Har! Har!
